I have both watched and read about Hans Achim Litten. He was a Jewish German lawyer who represented opponents of the Nazis at important political trials between 1929 and 1932, defending the rights of workers during the terror of Nazis.
He was imprisoned by Hitler when he came to power, as he humiliated Hitler by putting him and the Nazis on trial for being thugs and inciting violence, and winning the case. For this he was beaten to a pulp daily in the concentration camps.
Sadly he took his own life when he could not take anymore.
If you read one book this year then please read the story of Hans Litten. An amazing man who saw Hitler for what he was, and who died for upholding the rights of the law.
